Registration Long Term

I have been buying Visual Neo For a couple years now and I honestly have not used it yet.  I have been looking other Dev Tools and I have a huge question maybe no one has thought of?

I am not sure how long you have been around but If I put all my eggs in this basket for Dev and You go out of business or something happens to you. Sorry I have to put it like this.  My customers ask me the same questions.   If every time I need this installed I have to send am email and register it what happens if my computer crashes or I change and your not there later down the road.  Is there a contingency for this?

If I go with other Dev products they are large companies and OR open source and won't have to worry about it.

Thank you for the Info.  I really like this after playing with it and want to dive more into it.  But, I don't want to waste time.

@no1g8tor96 Hi Mike,

Thanks a lot for your message — and for your honesty. I really appreciate that you took the time to write.

Yes, you're right: at this moment it's just me behind VisualNEO Web. And I get why that raises concerns — it's the same kind of questions I’d ask if I were in your shoes.

Let me be clear: I'm fully committed to this project and to the users who trust it. VisualNEO Web is not a side hobby — it’s something I’ve put years of work into, and it’s used in real-world environments every day, including businesses and education.

That said, I do think about what would happen if one day I couldn't keep going. That’s why:

  • I'm quite sure the apps you build will always be usable — they’re built with standard technologies (HTML, JavaScript), so you’re not locked into a dead format.

  • In the medium to long term, I’m also considering setting up a contingency plan to keep the tool accessible (my two sons are now studing web development).

So yes — I totally understand your doubts. But I’m not planning to disappear. And if one day I had to step aside, I’d make sure no one is left hanging.

If you like what VisualNEO Web offers, please consider sharing it or recommending it to others. The more users we have, the more resources I can dedicate to improving the tool and ensuring its future — it really does make a difference.

I’d really love to see what you build with VisualNEO Web. And I’m here if you have any questions or need support getting started.
Thanks again for giving it another look!

Best,

Luis

It used to be called Neobook and the torch was passed to VisualNEO. I remember there was a popular download site for Power Basic, but the author's wife had difficulty keeping it up. Also there's an old saying that soon most Facebook accounts will be of users who passed on but their pages are still active. Ghosts? Dead parrots? Books can last a long time but software suddenly vanishes if nobody keeps it online.  It has more to do with Big Tech economics than human longevity. It is a serious issue because entire digital libraries can disappear overnight like Encarta.

.

I started using VisualNEO Web because I was interested in making dynamic web apps (mainly for fun but also to be useful for myself and possibly others), while avoiding what to me is the steep(er) learning curve of React, Angular or Vue.

As it happens, the mix of my priorities and amount of time free to pursue interests and hobbies that are for fun, not money, changed and web apps and VisualNEO are now only idling in the background and not progressing.

That situation may change again, but I still keep monitoring the forum for updates because I want to keep the software up-to-date, and get a warm feeling supporting it.

VisualNEO Web is one of only two software tools (the other is the Affinity suite) that I use which requires some form of registration or key to function. I understand it is all about restricting the potential for people stealing software and using it for free, which is completely fair! But I also completely understand the unsettling feeling that @no1g8tor96 is concerned about.

hi,

Don't worry, Lewis is a very dedicated man and he definitely values what he has worked on and created. I have witnessed his efforts and help to others towards their success when Visual Neo was not yet available and we were active in other software.

I received a registration key for my old laptop. When I place it in the C:\ProgramData folder and start VisualNeoWin or VisualNeoWeb, the registration key isn't recognized. Then, when I try the registration tool in both applications, I get this message:

Your copy has been registered.

Please restart your software product.

But when I restart, both applications ask me to purchase the application because the registration didn't work.

Is there a fix for this situation?

@rocote something in your computer is preventing the file to be copied.
Please follow this alternative method (just copy the .key files to C:\ProgramData manually)
