Safer Project Work
Project Doctor
Project Doctor checks an application before publishing and identifies common problems that could affect the generated application.
It can detect issues such as:
- Missing project resources.
- Insecure HTTP URLs.
- Duplicate output names.
- Invalid output locations.
- Other common project configuration problems.
Project Doctor is advisory. It reports potential issues but never modifies the project automatically.
How to use Project Doctor
- Open the project.
- Select Project > Check Project....
- Review the reported results.
- Use the available action to navigate to the affected item when applicable.
- Run the check again after making corrections.
Running Project Doctor before publishing is now a recommended part of the VisualNEO Web workflow.
Safer Saving and Project History
VisualNEO Web now uses a safer atomic saving process.
The existing project file is retained until the new version has been written successfully, reducing the risk of losing a working project because of an interrupted or unsuccessful save.
VisualNEO Web also maintains a local history of recent project versions. This provides an additional recovery option after an unwanted edit, interrupted operation or accidental change.
Continue saving projects normally. To recover an earlier version, open the project history from the "File > Previous versions" menu and select the version to inspect or restore.
Make Project Portable
The new Make Project Portable command creates a self-contained copy of a project.
VisualNEO Web identifies external images, attachments and other local files used by the project, copies them into the portable project folder and rewrites their paths as relative references.
The original project is never modified.
How to create a portable project
- Open the project.
- Select Project > Make Project Portable....
- Review the detected resource inventory.
- Select a destination folder.
- Confirm the operation.
- Move, copy or archive the resulting folder as a single unit.
This is particularly useful before:
- Sharing a project with another user.
- Moving a project to another computer.
- Archiving a completed project.
- Changing its OneDrive or local storage location.
- Placing the project under version control or backup.
Faster and More Comfortable Editing
Find and Replace in HTML Editors
The contextual HTML editors now include the same search workflow already available in the Code and App Events editors.
Available shortcuts:
- Ctrl+F — Find
- Ctrl+H — Replace
- F3 — Find Next
Find and Replace can also be opened from the toolbar or editor context menu.
The search tools support:
- Forward and backward search.
- Case-sensitive matching.
- Whole-word matching.
- Search within the current selection.
- Single replacement.
- Replace All.
Closing an HTML editor with Cancel continues to discard the pending property edit.
Visual SVG Icon Picker
The
iconproperty of SVG Icon objects now opens a visual icon picker instead of a text-only list.
The picker displays the complete built-in Font Awesome icon collection in a scrollable visual grid. Hovering over an icon displays its technical name.How to select an icon

Publishing and Compatibility
Improved PWA Compatibility
VisualNEO Web now recognises and safely normalises older Service Worker property values when appropriate.
This helps older PWA projects open and continue working without requiring manual edits to the.neoappproject file.
Open Projects Directly from Windows Explorer
A
.neoappproject can now be opened by double-clicking it in Windows Explorer, even when VisualNEO Web is already running.
The project is sent to the existing VisualNEO Web instance, whose window is restored and brought to the foreground.
It is no longer necessary to close the IDE before opening another project from Explorer.
Improved Compilation Feedback
Compilation results now provide clearer access to:
- The generated output.
- The output folder.
- A copyable build report.
- A savable build report.
The build report can be used to diagnose failed compilations or to send complete technical information to VisualNEO support.
Two PlugIn Generators, One Flexible Workflow
VisualNEO Web now provides two complementary ways to create and maintain plug-ins.
Classic PlugIn Generator
The original local PlugIn Generator remains available.
It is suitable for users who prefer the established desktop workflow and for maintaining existing local plug-in projects.
No migration is required.
New PlugIn Generator Cloud
The new PlugIn Generator Cloud provides a modern workspace for creating and maintaining VisualNEO Web plug-ins.
Users can sign in with their visualneo.com account and work with cloud plug-in projects without migrating projects created with the classic generator.PlugIn Generator Cloud provides a focused interface for defining:
- Actions.
- Parameters.
- Global Code.
- Library files.
- Plug-in metadata and structure.
Projects can be compiled and installed in VisualNEO Web from the new workflow.
The Cloud generator is deployed independently from the VisualNEO Web IDE. The installer can register it as an external tool, and registered tools can be managed from:
Tools > Configure Tools...
Optional AI Assistance
PlugIn Generator Cloud includes an optional AI assistant designed to help transform an idea, requested feature or correction into a structured plug-in proposal.
The assistant can propose:
- New plug-in actions.
- Changes to existing actions.
- Parameters and action structures.
- Required Global Code.
- Improvements or corrections to existing plug-ins.
The generated proposal is displayed before being applied, allowing the user to review the suggested changes.
The project workspace remains locked while a proposal is being generated or applied, preventing concurrent edits from being lost.
The assistant also provides clearer diagnostics when a selected AI model returns an unsupported or invalid response.
PlugIn Generator Cloud remains usable without AI. An AI provider is required only for AI-assisted features.
Account Access
PlugIn Generator Cloud uses the existing visualneo.com account system to authorise eligible customers.
Access is available to purchasers of the eligible product from 1 January 2026 onwards. VisualNEO administrators also have access.
This access entitlement is separate from the VisualNEO Web 26.7.17 upgrade entitlement.Authentication takes place through the normal visualneo.com sign-in page and its existing security checks.
After successful authorisation, PlugIn Generator Cloud creates a dedicated local session that can remain active for up to 30 days. The generator does not store the user’s WordPress password.
Personal OpenRouter AI Settings
Users who want to use AI assistance can configure their own OpenRouter API key and select their preferred model.
The available model list is loaded from OpenRouter and displayed alphabetically. For the selected model, the interface shows information including:
- A short model description.
- Context size.
- Available pricing information.
This gives each user control over the provider, model and usage cost associated with their AI-assisted work.
What is OpenRouter?
OpenRouter is an independent AI service that provides access to a broad catalogue of AI models through a single API.
Users create and manage their own OpenRouter account, API key, credit and model usage directly with OpenRouter.
An OpenRouter key is optional. PlugIn Generator Cloud works without one, but AI-assisted features require a configured key.How to configure AI assistance
- Start PlugIn Generator Cloud from its registered external-tool entry.
- Sign in with an eligible VisualNEO account.
- Open AI Settings.
- Enter a personal OpenRouter API key.
- Select a model.
- Save the settings.
- Open a plug-in project and use the AI panel.
The API key is protected locally using Windows DPAPI for the current Windows user.
The key is not:
- Stored in the PlugIn Generator Cloud web database.
- Shared with other users.
- Embedded in generated plug-ins.
- Written to application logs.
AI features require the Windows desktop host and are intentionally unavailable when the Cloud generator is opened directly in a standard web browser.
Recommended Checks After Upgrading
After installing VisualNEO Web 26.7.17, we recommend completing the following checks:
- Open a representative existing project and save it.
- Run Project Doctor before publishing.
- Create a portable copy and open it from its new folder.
- Test the required Web, PWA, Mobile and neoEdge outputs.
- Select and save at least one SVG Icon using the visual picker.
- Leave VisualNEO Web open and double-click a
.neoappfile in Windows Explorer.- Confirm that the project opens in the existing VisualNEO Web window.
- Sign in to PlugIn Generator Cloud from the Tools Menu.
- Restart the generator and confirm that the authorised local session is retained.
