SuperCard got themselves in an awkward position of the underlying mac apis changing so much that they had to tell the users to run it in an emulator on newer macs. (I think they may be resolving the issue, but it has taken a long time.)
LiveCode always seems to be having cash flow problems, and the IDE is pretty poor and they find it hard to deliver on future roadmaps.
XOJO keeps making odd technical decisions in deprecating entire frameworks and breaking existing code.
All these are built and maintained by small teams and it shows.
I have a couple of questions, if anyone has the time to briefly share their thoughts:
- For the little or no coding people here, does it concern you that there aren’t many mentions of VisualNeo out there on the general internet?
- For users comfortable with programming, do you ever think that avoiding low code authoring tools and doing everything in a general purpose language with popular libraries is a better way?

Good times! I will share my thoughts.
1. I use with success VisualNEO Win since 2009 (since 2016 I teach a course for students based on this program, then NeoBook). This is my favorite program! It bothers me that not enough people know about this amazing development environment yet! That's why I wrote a number of articles in Russian. For example, this one: https://habr.com/ru/post/451346/
I wrote two tutorials (in Russian) and made a free online course for everyone (you just need to register, because I watch my students' activity on it): https://distant.orgpsiholog.ru/course/view.php?id=20
Over time, I will learn more about VisualNEO Web and write a detailed review, too. For example, I had the need to create the same program in VisualNEO Win and in VisualNEO Web (for scientific research). The results are published here: https://github.com/VadimLjovkin. I really enjoyed working in VisualNEO Web as well! VisualNEO is incredibly cool technology!
And there should be our contribution in making the program better known. I think so.2. I have made dozens of programs for personal, professional and scientific purposes. And I have never lacked opportunities. I believe that if a person does not intend to be a professional programmer, but simply wants to create good quality programs which are useful to him/herself and other people, VisualNEO is the best choice! A professional programmer might not agree with this just because he is already used to his IDE and everything seems simple there. In reality, VisualNEO makes it 100500 times easier to achieve the desired result. I know this for a fact, since I mastered Delphi enough to make my first plugin. Listen to those users who own VisualNEO, not those who criticize from the outside. This is an objective fact - you need to use the program to understand its capabilities. Our community is still small but very friendly and responsive. I am happy to be a part of it. I hope you will like VisualNEO too!
