Function Editor Very Slow To Open

Does anyone else have an issue with VN function editor taking a very long time to open?

I can't figure out if it's VN or just my computer. Nothing else runs so obviously slow. I don't have a very large amount of functions saved and I wouldn't expect that to be culprit. I've even removed all but three or four and no change.

NeoBook also had this problem.

VN function editor taking a very long time to open

I tried using it by doing ...

- F11
- edit of existing Functions
- insert new Function

... and the response was an instantaneous display of the Editor (a popup window) ... both on the old NeoBook and on the just installed VisualNEOWin ... both on Windows 10.

The only thing I can think of is that your security software might be taking a long time to ensure that the file is virus free (like when I try to run (F9) the pub being developed.

I agree. Here the response to display the Editor is instantaneous too.

Thanks for the help guys.

This had been happening to me for a long time and I was sure it was because of Windows Defender. I put the NeoBook folder in the exclusion list and it was still the same.

Right now, since I had to reinstall Windows 10 for other reasons (Windows 11 doesn't play well with my HP Reverb G1), and had to go back to Windows 10. Now everything is ok, the routines window opens instantly.

Glad everything works now.

f.y.i. I too use Windows Defender (Microsoft's default virus protection software) ... so we can rule that out.

Some third party virus software has been known to be very difficult to completely uninstall ... perhaps re-installing Windows 10 got rid of any such remnants.

@gaev

I totally agree with you. Surely there was something missing out there.

I have Windows 11 and the function editor opens instantly.
