How to search in the forum

Instead of using the built-in forum search field y recommend very much using Google this way:

words to search site:visualneo.com

This will tell Google to search results only within visualneo.com website. It works quite more better than using the forum search.

@luishp

Maybe then in the search field on the site to add automatic redirection, so that the search is carried out by Google?

Yes ... or an option to choose one or the other search engine

@vadim @gaev note that our forum is a WordPress plugin whose name is Asgaros Forum.
As far as I know, all I can do is asking the author to include the functionality.

Bummer :-(

In the mean time, perhaps a "sticky" post might be created within one of the sub-forums ... with a link that opens the Google search page in a separate Tab of the browser.

LOL ... and here I thought super-coder Luis built the forum from scratch :-)

@wrangler

Thank!

@luishp

Maybe this is what we need?

@vadim I have installed the plugin suggested by @wrangler but it doesn't work as expected.
It does not replace or modify the Asgaros Forum search box. It adds a new widget than can be included on any widget area within the site (currently only the in the blog page). Additionally, it fails loading the required scripts and does nothing.
Once this site is migrated to the new hosting I will look for other possibilities.

Thank you all!!

I have configured a customized Google Page for searching only within this forum.
There must be an easy way to include it within this site... Perhaps in the main menu?

There are lots of other plugins that will integrate google search. You may have to try a few before you find one that works, as it is with wordpress plugins.

Perhaps in the main menu?

@luishp
This is quite a working option.
Then it might make sense to disable the standard forum search so that it does not confuse users. Better to have one search that works. If it is possible of course.

@vadim @wrangler @gaev I have modified the default forum search box so it sends the request to our Google Search Page :)

Let me know if you find any problem.
Thank you!

Ideally! Great solution!

It worked for the one search that I tried ... is it possible/better for the results to be shown in a separate Tab of the Browser ?

Otherwise, thanks.

I

is it possible/better for the results to be shown in a separate Tab of the Browser ?

Not sure, because if you click on any result link it will open the forum page in a new tab... too many tabs?
