Got an interactive buzzer that uses the hash tag when pressed - is there a way to use the hashtag as a keystroke?

By that, do you mean that "when the buzzer is pressed, the operating system tells your program that the # key was pressed ?

is there a way to use the hashtag as a keystroke?

On my Canadian-English (same as US-English) keyboard, the # is above the 3 key (on the row of keys below the Fx keys) ... so, holding the Shift key down while pressing the 3 key results in a # being shown on the screen.

Are you using another country's keyboard (e.g. British-English) ?

Hi Gaev,

I opened Notepad and when I pressed a buzzer it said that #1 key was pressed.

When I pressed another buzzer - it said #2
Next buzzer said #3

etc....

I have 20 buzzers - so... #1 to #20

Using a British/English keyboard and the # key is in a different place.
If a create a button in Neobook and try to use #1 in the Short Cut Key option..it does not recognise the 1 after.
I can type the # key in the box, but if I try to add a 1...it deletes the # and just says 1

Hope that makes sense?

Shortcut keys for PushButtons are limited to 1 key (but may be combined with Ctrl and Alt keys).

I opened Notepad and when I pressed a buzzer it said that #1 key was pressed.

I think it might be telling you that the 1 key on the numeric key pad (i.e. the one above the PgDn on my keyboard) was pressed ... if this is true, I am not sure what #20, #19 etc. mean (there aren't that many keys on a numeric keypad).

I do not know how Notepad works/reports such things, but you might try and capture the keystroke(s) in a TextEntry Box within your pub ... just make sure it has Focus (i.e. regular keystrokes are echoed within it) before deploying your Buzzers.

Tell us what was shown in the TextEntry Box.

P.S. Can you post details (Make, Model) of your special hardware (Buzzers) ? ... perhaps there is documentation on the web about its internal workings.

if I do a text entry box and press # and then the number 1 and 2 on the keyboard, not the keypad, then it says #20 in [textentry1]

the buzzers are called 'Slammers' and, as far as I know, there is no internal info.

Hello

"It said " means that the string "#1" is entered in the Notepad text area?

So the buzzer system software interfaces with its Hardware and generate the Input into the app which has the Keyboard Focus?

Then you should try to run the visualneo test-app with an active text-entry and then press your buzzer.

Does the string "#1" appear then in the text-entry?

a) are you attempting this at Design time ? ... you should do it at Run time (with focus on this Box) ... and report what you see in the Box (not the value of the associated variable)

b) I see that the extended UK keyboard has the # sign on a key with 3 others ... normally, does the # sign show on the screen when you press this key by itself ? ... or do you have to press this key along with Shift, Ctrl, Alt combinations ?

c) what shows up in the TextEntry Box when you click one of the buzzers ?

d) Can you tell us what is displayed in the TextEntry Box ...

- after you type the # ?
- and then after you type the 1 ?

- clear the contents of the box
- and then type # followed by the 1 on the numeric pad ? (you may have to hold the Shift key for the second character)

- clear the contents of the box
- and then type # followed by letter a ? (lower case)

- clear the contents of the box
- press the first of the buzzers ?

a) it says on their website that the buzzers can be used with 3 different software packages (Grandslam, Buzz-in and Talent) ... perhaps they are designed to be used ONLY with these software packages.

b) if you believe that the Buzzers can be used with ANY software, then you need to ask the vendor to provide (download ?) documentation that details information about how the signals from the Buzzers (sent to the USB port) are made to look (to Windows and other programs) like they are being typed ? ... and what key is associated with each Buzzer ?

Gaev,

The only information I have is this:

Hi Martin,
>>
>> They run from keypad 1 which is #901 and ends with keypad 20 which is
>> #920
>>
>> clive

@mbpitt

You are NOT making it easy to assist you.

1) You only responded to one of several enquiries in my last post.

2) What was the question you posed, that clive responded ?

3) What is keypad 1 ?

You can not expect others here to assist you with some obscure hardware whose connectivity/interaction with the PC/Browser is unknown.

This is akin to pulling teeth; until I see clear answers to all of my enquiries in the last post, I will not respond on this subject.

leave it!...................
