Something really GREAT is coming to VisualNEO

VisualNEO Web and Win working together?
Is that really possible?
Using a modern light weight web browser?
As a Windows executable?

The attached picture is just a clue ;)
Stay tuned.

I'm progressing very quickly on the initial idea and it's now working on my local PC quite well.
The concept is very similar to NWjs or Electron (hybrid applications for Windows) but using Microsoft Edge instead of Chromium and VisualNEO Win commands instead of NodeJS. So you just need to execute the new lightweight executable neoEdge.exe (about 3Mb) from the same folder where your compiled app is located or even use it to execute your remotely hosted app.

So it will be possible to:

  • Execute any VisualNEO Win command directly from VisualNEO Web with just one click.
  • Use a new plugin to get very similar Wizards to those found on VisualNEO Win, for most of the core commands (more to come).
  • Compile any VisualNEO Win plugin into neoEdge so it's available into VisualNEO Web too (now NeoDBpro is included).
  • Send information from VisualNEO Web to Win and from Win to Web (variable values)
  • And you don't need VisualNEO Win at all...

Take a look at the attached picture to see how I'm going to integrate it with ViusalNEO Web: just one click!
I think this opens up a huge world of possibilities.
Let me know what you think :)

it looks really cool. I can't wait for it to be available and to try it out. @luishp you are great

Hi ,@luishp,

you are really preparing something fabulous for us!

Looks very impressive! Integration of VisualNEO Win and VisualNEO Web opens up great prospects.
It is not yet clear to me how to integrate plugins into neoEdge and what it means that you can completely do without VisualNEO Win. I will wait for the release of the new version and more information. It is very interesting!! Thank you so much for the powerful development of our beloved programming environment !!!

Hi,

No doubt it will be great ... but ... uhm ... just one question, does that mean VNWin will continue with updates? I'm only asking because I understood that I it will not receive any more updates until "dies by his own accord."

Regards,

Sam

does that mean VNWin will continue with updates?

@lesanch it's too early to say anything but another Delphi expert is taking a look at the VisualNEO Win source code.

Regards.

Luis

While finishing the next version with neoEdge included, I have added a new forum section. I will soon add a FAQ there. Right now there is a Video Tutorial to show how it works:

Regards.
